When there is a lot of betting going on in a game or when players are
getting involved in more hands than usual – “There was plenty
of action at that table”

A community card that appears on the board that causes a lot of betting
– for instance, when a king comes on the river and more than one
player is holding a king.

An active player is a player that is still involved in a hand –
“there are 3 active players still in this hand”
Add-On
Where you buy more chips before you have lost them all in a cash game
– “Dave had to buy another add-on after he lost another large
pot”
Advertising

that you are either strong or weak – “James advertised that
he had a weak hand by checking on the river”

playing.
All In
Betting all of your remaining chips at once. “Jeremy was more than
happy to go all in with his flush draw”

A compulsory bet placed into the pot by a player. “In the later
stages of the tournament, every player had to put a $25 ante in the pot
before each hand”
Ante Off
If you leave the table for any reason (to use the bathroom, to make a
phone call, etc) you still have to pay the antes, blinds, and all other
forced bets so that the game remains fair for the other players at the
table.
