Rags
Low value cards that don’t help your hand – if you were holding ace 3, you could be said to have ace rag.

Rainbow
A rainbow flop is where each card is a different suit – ie – 3 diamonds, 6 hearts, queen clubs.


Raise
Putting more money in than on a previous bet.

Rake
A small percentage of the pot taken by the house to cover the costs of running the game. Also known as the vig or the vigorish.

Rebuy
Some tournaments, known as “rebuy tournaments” allow players to buy back in for their initial chip stack if they bust out before a certain period.

Represent
To represent a hand is to play as if you hold it, whether you actually hold it or are bluffing.

Reraise
Reraising is where you raise the a pot that has already been raised.

Ring Game
Also known as cash games, ring games are played with real chip values and money at stake, with no predetermined end time. Players are free to enter and leave as they wish.

River
The last community card dealt in texas holdem

Rock
A very tight player who doesn’t play very many hands and only continues with strong cards.

Royal Cards
Also known as face cards or picture cards – refers to the Jacks, Queens, and Kings in the deck.

Runner-Runner
A hand made by hitting two consecutive cards on the turn and river.
